Weight Loss at LifexcelI wanted to share an often overlooked weight loss tip today about exercise and getting more steps in your routine.

Over the weekend I was watching an episode of “A Million Little Things”. It’s a popular show on ABC now, you may have seen it.

What got me thinking about exercise, is two of the characters got in a fight over a parking space in a hospital parking deck. So it got me thinking how often we look at our daily life and our daily activity and we try to do as little movement as possible.

When in fact, it should be the other way around by trying to get as many steps in and as much movement as possible. This is especially true if you don’t exercise enough or say I don’t have time to go to a gym.

Some examples of getting more steps, for more exercise and movement are:

  • walking your dog
  • walking to your mailbox
  • washing your car
  • raking leaves
  • mowing the lawn

Do you take the opportunity to do these things or do you pay someone to do them for you?

Do you take opportunities to move more?

When you go to the grocery store, do you circle and circle the lot looking for the closest spot, and then get angry when you have to park towards the back of the lot?

Or do you take that opportunity to park at the end of the lot and get more steps.

The same thing escalators and elevators. When you go into an office building are you automatically looking for the elevator?

Or are you looking for the stairs? The stairs are the way go.

Getting in these little extra bits of exercise throughout the day and develop a mentality of movement vs. sitting.

And all of these extra exercise opportunities to take extra steps do add up!

This is your weight loss tip for today.
