Holidays can be a joyful, yet stressful time of year. Social gatherings and lack of time can prevent you from achieving your health and weight loss goals. Mindful eating can be beneficial to maintaining moderation, variety, and balance during this hectic time of year.
Mindful eating is a multifaceted approach to nutrition that involves: using all of your senses to choose foods that are satisfying and nourishing to your body; giving your food and the process of eating your full attention; being aware and responding to physical hunger and satiety cues to help you decide when to begin and end eating; and finally, it is about responding to food in a nonjudgmental way. This group will focus on the importance of presence and awareness around food and eating. Sessions will explore this process through guided meditations, activities, and discussions to promote mindful eating. Group led by Jennifer Smith, RD, LDN. This group will meet 4 times. Discussions will include:
- Breaking the mindless eating cycle
- Identifying hunger and fullness cues
- Challenging problematic styles of thinking
- Tips to eat mindful during the holiday season
- Overcoming barriers to mindful eating
- Identifying emotional vs physical hunger
- Challenging weight management myths
